BluES is an Open Source project.
It originates from a couple of projects that were related to a product called JaTeK, all of which were developed here at Dresden University of Technology. For information, here are the project history highlights:

In 2000 a University 'spin-off' company was founded - JaTeK GmbH. The aim of the company was to enhance and refine the JaTeK product and another web-based conferencing application.
Sadly, in 2004 JaTeK went into liquidation. Thereafter, the JaTeK product became an open source project allowing further development to take place.
For commercial reasons it was decided that the product should no longer be called JaTeK, so after a long brain-storm it was agreed that the project should be renamed BluES. You can learn more about the Blues project through this site.
